Xtra Spicy Enforcer Mission 1

So Enforcer again!

This is me doing two things: showing off the Xtra Spicy difficulty, which is an extra difficulty you unlock when you beat the game, and showing off various alternate skins Enforcer has, 1 per mission. You actually have a lot of skins you can choose from by default, but there's a fair few that are also unlocked for beating the game.

I'll be skipping cinematics, generally speaking. If you want the plot-y-kinda-focused videos, you can just look at my run on the default difficulty level.

Xtra Spicy itself does four things that I can tell; it increases enemy HP, it increases enemy damage, it increases enemy spawn numbers/spawn speed, and it increases the Data Point costs of unlocking and improving your stuff. All difficulties effect this stuff, mind... anyway, the Data Point cost increase is, it should be noted, obviously in part to offset the increased spawning and thus increased Data Point intake. As you'll see, I do end up behind the curve of normal difficulty, but not as much as you might expect just looking at the prices.

I'm pretty sure Xtra Spicy is actually tuned under the intention of using another game mechanic -you can New Game+ in Enforcer, and you can change the difficulty you're playing at anytime between missions. Since you have to beat the game to unlock Xtra Spicy difficulty, the expectation is likely that most players who give it a whirl will do so with their recently-completed file that's got tons of stuff unlocked and upgraded already.

I'm not doing that. This is a fresh file, so I can get an idea of how Xtra Spicy really compares.

And right away we get to see that Xtra Spicy is notably more tricky. Even basic Sectoids take multiple hits to go down! It'll be even more obvious in later videos, but in this Extra Spicy run it's pretty normal for me to be unable to fight the tide of enemy spawns with just my basic weapon, demanding I either loop around if I want to destroy an enemy spawner or get a weapon like the Blade Launcher if I want to actually push through the tide successfully. It's not so obvious in this particular mission, but I also became a lot more aware that Sectoids are actually aggravatingly accurate by doing this Xtra Spicy run, and it's just not obvious in a normal difficulty run because you can shrug off damage effortlessly.

See you next mission.
